Ventura Orange Jam

An orange jam.

But, Wayne, aren't citrus fruit jams called marmalades?  Yes, and no. Marmelades typically include a bit of the rind cooked into the jam. I don't like the flavor of the rind cooked in - I think it gives the jam an undesirable bitter aspect. SO we make our Ventura Orange without the rind.

But why is it called 'Ventura' Orange?

Good question!

I used to do a Harvest Festival every year in Ventura California and we made this jam from Valencia oranges grown in Ventura County specifically for the Harvest Festival.  And that is why it is called Ventura Orange.
